Message to our customers regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Our job at North Tiverton Fire District (NTFD) is to protect the public health through the continued supply of safe, high quality drinking water. NTFD continues to monitor updates as provided by Governor Raimondo, Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We are following guidelines of both the RIDOH and CDC to ensure the well-being of our employees and provide adequate staffing to maintain critical services. The health and safety of our customers and employees is our top priority.
As a result, this office will be closed to the public until further notice. Payments may be made through the payment slot, by mail, or online at www.northtivertonwater.org. NTFD offices will remain open for emergency calls.
Service appointments will be limited to emergency situations only.
NTFD will be taking precautionary measures to reduce exposure and lessen the impact of COVID-19 on our customers and employees while responding to water emergencies. Some precautions include, frequent handwashing and/or use of hand sanitizer, avoid touching of the mouth, nose and eyes, social distancing, using appropriate PPE when responding to a residence, and staying home if they are sick.
If you experience a water emergency within your home, you will be asked the following questions prior to an employee being dispatched to assist:
- Have you or anyone in your household travelled in the last 14 days?
- Have you or anyone in your household had contact with someone confirmed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
- Have you or anyone in your household experienced a fever greater than 100 degrees, difficulty breathing or cough in the last 14 days?
- Are you or anyone in your household currently under self-quarantine for symptoms associated with COVID-19?
- Have you or anyone in your household been in contact with anyone who is currently under self-quarantine for symptoms associated with COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
If the answer is yes to any of the above questions our staff will work with you to determine the best course of action to our response.
While NTFD depends on your timely payment to operate the system, also know, we’re here to help. We are committed to providing support to our customers in the face of disaster. If you or a family member have been affected by COVID-19 and are unable to pay your bill on time, please contact our office at 401-624-8432. Monday through Friday, 8:45am to 4:15pm. Because disinfection and sanitation are critical to combat the spread of the virus, we have suspended water disconnections at this time. We will continue to evaluate this as more information becomes available.
We want to assure you that your water is safe to drink. The United States has strong regulations governing public water. Our water is filtered and treated with chlorine that effectively inactivates viruses and kills pathogens throughout the system.
